RN Exam Application

It’s quite easy to become a nurse these days. There is an increasing demand for nurses in the US and in other countries. This is the perfect opportunity to enter the industry and work as a registered nurse. You should be aware that you can’t work as an RN if you don’t pass the NCLEX-RN exam. To be allowed to take the exam, you will need to submit your RN exam application.

The Process

The exam covers different categories such as safe & effective care environment, health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity. Before you proceed any further, you need to apply for a nursing license. You can consult with the board of nursing in your state. Registration is necessary if you want to take the examination.

After submission of the application, you will get your NCLEX Examination Candidate Bulletin. This will be mailed to you, so just wait for it to arrive. After that, you will now register with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. You can do this by filling out the registration form (and mail it) or you can also do it by phone.

When you’re an eligible candidate, you will get your ATT or Authorization to Take the Test. The ATT will also include the list of possible testing centers and a set of instructions on how to schedule for the exams.

Upon application, you will need to pay $200 for the NCLEX fee.

The competence of the applicants is gauged through the CAT or Computerized Adaptive Testing. For the RN candidates, they will be asked around 75 questions. Once you’ve finished these questions, the computer will be the one to select the questions that you should answer. The questions will go on although the maximum questions are only 265. Some candidates will finish the exam without exhausting all the 265 questions. This will depend on the computer’s assessment based on your answers.

The RN exam will not exceed six hours. Before the exam, candidates will undergo computer tutorial on how to go about the exam. During the exam, you will have 2 ten-minute breaks. The scores generated by the computer and the scores from the testing service will be evaluated to provide you with the NCLEX-RN results.
